Introduction 00:27
2.
WROTE THAT ONE TOO (Chris Hludzik) I’ve composed many a tune Here in my short time Emotions, devotions, promises, truth Poetry sublime Verses full of heartache Choruses of hope Bridges full of doubt And a catchy hook to help me cope (just like this) (Na, na-na-na, na-na) (x2) But there’s only so much That words and chords can do Constructing simple melodies For detailed points of view Riding on a wave of sound To set my spirit free Keep it all in time and in tune To reveal the real me CHANGE: Because a tune in my head Is a song in my heart I’ve got it all figured out Before I even start And some might say that it’s relevant But it sure isn’t new Just ask any serenader – And they’ll say, “I wrote that one too”. And what do I have to show for myself…(x2) Just a song, just a song (x4) Just these songs…

Live 04:58
LIVE (Chris Hludzik) You’re movin’ on without me But I wanna come too You say “Don’t worry, I’ll be around” But how do I know if it’s true? They say that weather changes moods And it’s been rainin’ an awful lot You act like you know what you want But you don’t even know what you’ve got. CHORUS: So what should I do While you shuffle your thoughts through your head? You say live – live or be dead. It seems fair enough For you to try new things Come out of your corner swinging In life’s boxing ring It seems clear enough For you to hold your own But PLEASE make up your mind Or I’ll just have to go it alone. CHORUS: Ever since you’ve left me I’ve been able to see You were not what I thought you were And you could never be. I often think about you And the advice that you would give And boy, I’m glad I listened ‘Cause I’ve finally started to live. So what do you do – Just shuffle your thoughts through your head? You’d better live – or you’ll wind up dead.
4.
THE POWERS THAT BE (Chris Hludzik) CHORUS: Everybody's got their money Everybody's got their guns Fat cats keep gettin' fatter And the poor dogs have to run From the powers that be... Because they are not to be You can't be richer than the first man You can't be poorer than the last You can't be slower than an old man Who's nearly ran his last Somewhere in a golden tower The fat cat takes his rest While you're in the street strugglin' Just to keep up with the rest CHORUS: Neatly-sawed ladder footsteps Snap as you try to climb Hanging onto every moment Trying not to get left behind Airwaves are gettin' crowded Keeps gettin' harder to get to you But try to hear what I've got to say Hold together and you'll pull through CHORUS: Everyone's got a price tag Everyone's for sale Everyone wants to be the chief But just who's gonna hail To the powers that be... Because they are not to be To the powers that be... 'Cause we are not to be.
5.
Resurfaced 03:35
RESURFACED (Chris Hludzik) So you thought that it was over Done and gone away You’ve left it all behind But it’s never really over It comes back to you someday How could you be so blind? CHANGE And no one is immune to it It’s something we all face The unrest of never knowing The time or the place So when it finally hits you Don’t act with such surprise You should have known by now ‘Cause you can leave the past behind you And you can try to compromise But it still catches up somehow CHANGE 2 And no one is immune to it It’s something we all face The unrest of never knowing The time or the place So don’t think for one second That it can’t happen to you All your problems have resurfaced Out of the blue…
6.
Insomnia 03:04
INSOMNIA (Chris Hludzik) It’s tough to fall asleep When you’ve got these dreams that you can’t keep And nightmares that just won’t let you be Knowing you’re only hours away From the pain and frustration of another day You wonder, “will I ever be free – to be me?” My head feels heavy, as I turn out the light But no matter what I do It’s so hard to say goodnight… CHORUS: Insomnia (There ain’t no cure for) (x2) Insomnia The only sure thing Is that you gotta wake up That clock is foolin’ me It can’t be as late as it seems to be 2 a.m.? My mind is on the run TV screen that shines so bright In the middle of my darkest nights Convincing myself that this is fun Tossin’ and turnin’ I can’t get a wink I’m tryin’ hard to nod off But all I can do is blink… CHORUS: BRIDGE: And all my days I will wander In a dreary, weary, sleepy haze This caffeinated culture barely keeps me awake Through the daily grind and the promise of another empty handshake… CHORUS (x2):
7.
Friend 06:17
FRIEND (Chris Hludzik) You tell me that I’m a good time But I’m not good enough for ALL of your time I’m just a jester- A perfume tester for you to prime Your eyes seem so sincere, But it’s really evil stares Looking down Turning your smile to an evil frown I wonder what you say When I’m not around When you lift me up, Are you really bringing me down? CHORUS: Some would say that I’m foolish Some would say that I’m weak Some would say my soul will never mend Some would call you a liar Some would call you a thief But me? I call you “Friend”. Your actions make me suspicious But I’m not one to judge I don’t like mind games, or dropping names And I NEVER hold a grudge Truth is stranger than fiction But fiction’s much more fun When you know I’ve nowhere to go And you’ve got me on the run I wonder what you’d say If you could say it to my face I wonder what I’d say If I didn’t feel so out of place CHORUS: If ya can’t say something nice, then Don’t say nothing at all I’d rather shut up Than have to put up with taking the fall They say that he who has no sin Can cast the first stone That’s not for me – Just wanna be left alone. I could’ve saved myself some trouble If only I knew All I needed was a friend But instead, I got YOU CHORUS: OUTRO (Repeat through fade): Goodbye old friend, goodbye!!! (Good riddance to bad rubbish)

No Chorus 02:33
NO CHORUS (Chris Hludzik) When I was just a kid I never thought of what I did Or what I’d have to answer for Or that I’d have to even up the score I was just a child Unaware of my denial Of things I didn’t really know Running from my own shadow And life was just a dream That you had every night And with the break of each new day All of your problems seemed to go away Then I entered a new phase Some of my most confusing days Not a boy, not quite a man It felt like no one could understand Then I got a little older Realized the world was colder Than I thought that it could be A train wreck called reality Now life felt like a scheme Things never worked out right And with each passing day The darkness took the light away Now I’m just a man And I do the best I can But it’s never good enough And as far as luck, I’ve got it tough So on and on I go Into these things I’ll never know Searching for my reason to be Whatever that might be And life’s still nothing but a dream A never-ending fight And with each passing day I wonder Will an answer come my way…
10.
For Mercy 02:46
FOR MERCY (Chris Hludzik) I’m tired of always keeping the peace All I ever wanted was to say my peace What I could use in my life is a little peace Oh please Please let me be I don’t want to go through this again But there’s no way to be sure it won’t happen again Well I don’t think I can make it through this again Oh please Please let me be Oh please Please let me be at ease CHANGE But you know me It just wouldn’t be a normal day Without a little rain You can show me But somehow I’d feel a little lost Without the pain CHANGE I’m sick of always feeling left out If I’m not wanted here then I should just get out Sometimes I think I’m better off being left out Oh please Please let me be Oh please Please let me be at ease
11.
MAYBE THEN (ABRIDGED VERSION) (Chris Hludzik) If I had all of the answers I wouldn’t need anything else If someone made a quick-fix cure-all That I could buy right off the shelf CHORUS: Maybe then I could die a happy man Maybe then I’d be fine with who I am Maybe then I could die a happy man Maybe then I could… BRIDGE: But ya know there’s no such thing No simple solutions to be found If ya want your supper, you’ve gotta sing Just make sure that you’ve got the right sound. CHORUS: Maybe then I could die a happy man Maybe then I’d be fine with who I am Maybe then I could die a happy man Maybe then I could die (x3)
12.
NORTHWEST SONG (Chris Hludzik) Crank it up real loud To get the message through And if you don't seem too proud They might believe in you Just don't wash your hair And tear some holes in your jeans Just cast a blank stare Make them feel what you think you've been CHORUS: But we weren't stars We wouldn't last that long Just kids with guitars Tryin' to play those northwest songs So young and so bold We thought we knew it all In a world so cold With our backs to the wall Distortion and gain To make it all come down Frustration and pain Like a grey day in a northwest town CHORUS: BRIDGE: Can you feel the pain? Can you feel the shame? Does it feel the same As everything else? But we'll insist it's a new sound We'll try and cover some new ground Even though it's the same ground That's been trampled by everyone else CHORUS:
13.
ENCOURAGEMENT (Chris Hludzik) You claim that their grass is greener Despite the fact that you’ve worked so hard But don’t turn the color of envy Just be happy that you have a yard And don’t waste time dwelling on failure Instead work towards being the best Or else you’ll be labeled a “has-been” Before you’ve had any success Just look towards the light And find purpose in your being And don’t give up the fight In spite of what you’re seeing ‘Cause it never comes as easy as it seems And remember that reality can’t exist… Without dreams.
