WROTE THAT ONE TOO (Chris Hludzik) I’ve composed many a tune Here in my short time Emotions, devotions, promises, truth Poetry sublime Verses full of heartache Choruses of hope Bridges full of doubt And a catchy hook to help me cope (just like this) (Na, na-na-na, na-na) (x2) But there’s only so much That words and chords can do Constructing simple melodies For detailed points of view Riding on a wave of sound To set my spirit free Keep it all in time and in tune To reveal the real me CHANGE: Because a tune in my head Is a song in my heart I’ve got it all figured out Before I even start And some might say that it’s relevant But it sure isn’t new Just ask any serenader – And they’ll say, “I wrote that one too”. And what do I have to show for myself…(x2) Just a song, just a song (x4) Just these songs…
2.
No Chorus 02:21
NO CHORUS (Chris Hludzik) When I was just a kid I never thought of what I did Or what I’d have to answer for Or that I’d have to even up the score I was just a child Unaware of my denial Of things I didn’t really know Running from my own shadow And life was just a dream That you had every night And with the break of each new day All of your problems seemed to go away Then I entered a new phase Some of my most confusing days Not a boy, not quite a man It felt like no one could understand Then I got a little older Realized the world was colder Than I thought that it could be A train wreck called reality Now life felt like a scheme Things never worked out right And with each passing day The darkness took the light away Now I’m just a man And I do the best I can But it’s never good enough And as far as luck, I’ve got it tough So on and on I go Into these things I’ll never know Searching for my reason to be Whatever that might be And life’s still nothing but a dream A never-ending fight And with each passing day I wonder Will an answer come my way…
3.
Resurfaced 03:06
RESURFACED (Chris Hludzik) So you thought that it was over Done and gone away You’ve left it all behind But it’s never really over It comes back to you someday How could you be so blind? CHANGE And no one is immune to it It’s something we all face The unrest of never knowing The time or the place So when it finally hits you Don’t act with such surprise You should have known by now ‘Cause you can leave the past behind you And you can try to compromise But it still catches up somehow CHANGE 2 And no one is immune to it It’s something we all face The unrest of never knowing The time or the place So don’t think for one second That it can’t happen to you All your problems have resurfaced Out of the blue…
4.
THE THANKS I GET (Chris Hludzik) When your empire was crumbling I was there to pick up the pieces And put it back together again When your world didn’t turn And hard lessons were learned I was with you through it all, my friend CHANGE: But when I pulled you from the ditch And put you back on the road You seemed to forget who got you there Well they say life – it’s a bitch It leaves you lost and leaves you cold Full of doubt and full of fear And when I needed you, you weren’t there I guess you didn’t think to care… And that’s the thanks I get I was always setting things up To help you make a name I did the work, you took the credit But when things didn’t pan out It was me who got the blame I’ll never forget it CHANGE: I held my end of every bargain Stayed true to my word Took too many falls for you Lies, excuses and jargon From you were all I heard What did you expect me to do? But you wouldn’t drop your agenda for MY affairs I guess you felt you were too important to care… And that’s the thanks I get BRIDGE: And I can fake a laugh And I can fake a smile Just to drag myself Through that worthless extra mile And you can take an inch Or you can take a yard But either way, you’ll always think You’ve got it so damn hard And that the thanks I get
5.
For Mercy 02:42
FOR MERCY (Chris Hludzik) I’m tired of always keeping the peace All I ever wanted was to say my peace What I could use in my life is a little peace Oh please Please let me be I don’t want to go through this again But there’s no way to be sure it won’t happen again Well I don’t think I can make it through this again Oh please Please let me be Oh please Please let me be at ease CHANGE But you know me It just wouldn’t be a normal day Without a little rain You can show me But somehow I’d feel a little lost Without the pain CHANGE I’m sick of always feeling left out If I’m not wanted here then I should just get out Sometimes I think I’m better off being left out Oh please Please let me be Oh please Please let me be at ease
6.
Maybe Then 02:52
MAYBE THEN (Chris Hludzik) If I could solve all the world’s problems Or at least if I could solve my own If there were some way I could be important Without becoming overblown CHORUS: Maybe then I could die a happy man Maybe then I’d be fine with who I am If I had all of the answers I wouldn’t need anything else If someone made a quick-fix cure-all That I could buy right off the shelf CHORUS: Maybe then I could die a happy man Maybe then I’d be fine with who I am Maybe then I could die a happy man Maybe then I could… BRIDGE: But ya know there’s no such thing No simple solutions to be found If ya want your supper, you’ve gotta sing Just make sure that you’ve got the right sound. CHORUS: Maybe then I could die a happy man Maybe then I’d be fine with who I am Maybe then I could die a happy man Maybe then I could die (x3)
7.
BLEEDING EARS (Chris Hludzik) Heard a mother say to her child “Wish you were never born” Heard a poor man on the street cryin’ For clothes he’s never worn Late at night I heard the TV howlin’ Talkin’ about the war And it makes me so curious So I listen, quietly listen… CHORUS: With my bleeding ears I hear the cries of the world And with my bleeding eyes, I can see All the bleeding hearts Licking each other’s wounds Longing to be free. On the radio Heard all the same old songs When so many others never got a chance to sing along Felt the cut of hatred – its wounds never heal All the good blood is in the gutter The bad blood left to congeal And it makes me so furious As I listen, quietly listen… CHORUS: And it makes me delirious It’s so hard to listen, but I still listen… CHORUS: (x2)
8.
ENCOURAGEMENT (Chris Hludzik) You claim that their grass is greener Despite the fact that you’ve worked so hard But don’t turn the color of envy Just be happy that you have a yard And don’t waste time dwelling on failure Instead work towards being the best Or else you’ll be labeled a “has-been” Before you’ve had any success Just look towards the light And find purpose in your being And don’t give up the fight In spite of what you’re seeing ‘Cause it never comes as easy as it seems And remember that reality can’t exist… Without dreams.
